Workskills L2

3/10/13
Smart target 1:
Just over a week to prepare for presentation assessment next week on the 10th of Oct. Summer task, induction brief, drawing activity and comic art team work.
Additional comments:
All work up unto this date will have to be shown/documentated.

25/10/13

Smart target 2:
My plan is either to create 2 a3 photo-realistic artworks, or one large A1 piece. I’m allowing myself a week per art work, and using the half term off for extra research such as gathering a number of different source images to inspire and help me. I will see how realistic the time scale for my expectations are once finishing my current photo-realistic drawing.
Additional comments:
Need a solid plan by the end of the week.

27/01/2014

Smart target 4:
By June 2015 I will have completed my maths GCSE (Grade C or above).
Additional comments:
To achieve this goal I plan to have better attendance over the upcoming weeks.
By September I will have a better understanding of the algebra .

Cover letter:

Dear Mr Bennett,

I am submitting an application for your place as resident nightclub photographer which was advertised on ‘indeed.co.uk – licklist’, 19/02/14.

In the past I have worked in product, portrait and event photography.
I have worked taking pictures for events such as Dave Crossly’s – Monster Monster, Hannah Houghton’s Incense & Peppermints, Kendal’s 2 day festival ‘Kave’  and Dan Payne’s Dingo Barrak nights.

I believe I would your nightclub photographer as I have worked to develop my skills in this area of photography, have the high end SLR you requested and an appropriate flash gun. Although I live in Ulverston, commuting would not be an issue as I spend a lot of my time in Lancaster and have keys for a place to stay.

Enclosed you will find a copy of my C.V, some previous nightclub images I have taken and a list of references.

Thankyou for your time, I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Evaluation:

I think one of the strong points in my job application was my past experience in photography, showing my suitability for the job.

Although I included all of the relevant information in my C.v to begin with, I needed to pay more attention on my grammar. My tutor noticed that in my haste, I also missed out a few words. I will need to edit this version before sending it out to future employees, and remember to proof read the text a few times through.
In my application, I tried to strongly focus on my past in photography, which was relevant for this job. In the future I will edit and tailor my cv to suit the employee. For instance, focus on my gardening jobs if looking at a manual labor job.

From doing this task on C.v writing, I have discovered multiple websites I can use to find jobs. I have also gathered new information on jobs that I didn’t have any knowledge of before.

In the future I will improve my Cv’s appearance. To maximize my chances of an interview/job in the future I will try and make my CV stand out by:

-(Art jobs.) Include art works/sketch/photo.
-Included envelope, stamp and written address in the hope they reply.
-Decorated/nice paper.
-(Catering) use Alastair Flemming’s technique and cook some home baked goods – bribery/ shows skill.
-Tailor my CV to suit each job.
